Government sources said the president would support Malcorra’s nomination  to chair the body, in which she was chief of staff from 2012 until she arrived to the Argentina Chancellery.

A few days ago, the head of the Cabinet Marcos Peña said that «Malcorra is a luxury as chancellor» and that if she is nominated as general secretary of the UN it would be an honor for Argentina and for this Government if its chancellor is chosen for that position while added that it would be the first woman to do it.

Helen Clark, New Zealand’s political leader, is another of the names circulating to replace Ban Ki-moon.
