Fortunately, the kidnapping of Venezuelan journalist Nairobi Pinto had a happy ending. She was rescued in Cua, town in the state of Miranda, after eight days and is now in the headquarters of the CICPC.

A week and a day ago, Nairobi was kidnapped by an unidentified couple at the door of her home in Caracas.

Douglas Rico, deputy director of officials of the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations (CICPC) said in his Twitter account: “journalist Nairobi Pinto is already in our power, safe and sound.”

“She’s alive, is fine. She was found by the civil defense personnel. Was treated and is now in the CICPC” said journalist Daniel William Hill to Globovision.

The incident occurred on Sunday, April 6th. When she left her home, she was intercepted by two masked men.

The kidnapping had shocked Venezuelan society, torn between considering the disappearance as a fact of common crime or abduction with political overtones.
