Cristina Kirchner met with Uruguayan president José Mujica in Cuba
Cuba, January 28, 2014
President Cristina Kirchner held today, as part of the Second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, a meeting with Uruguayan President Jose “Pepe” Mujica. The main theme was the claim of the Uruguayan entrepreneurship for the port blockade held by Argentina.
José Mujica had anticipated that he would seek to have a meeting with Cristina Kirchner to discuss economic differences but until today, there was no confirmation of the appointment. Finally it took place on Tuesday.
Content spoken did not transcend the media yet, but it was learned that the meeting was mainly to unlock the port conflict with Argentina, which imposes restrictions on imports of Uruguayan products.
Trade relations between Argentina and Uruguay worsened in the last months. Mujica expressed his discomfort many times as well as the Uruguayan entrepreneurship while Argentina continues reducing imports.
