Del Potro climbs again to the fourth place in the ATP ranking
Argentina, January 27, 2014
Starting today, and after the defeat of Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final against Stanislas Wawrinka, Juan Martin del Potro will return to fourth place in the ATP ranking, his highest mark ever.
Del Potro, 25, remains in the “top ten” since May 14, 2012, but did not occupy that place since April 2010.
After his earlier elimination in the Australian Open (just in the second round), Del Potro ranks above the Spanish David Ferrer and Andy Murray, but remains below the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, recent champion in Melbourne.
Here are the positions of the top ten:
1) Rafael Nadal (Spain)
2) Novak Djokovic (Serbia)
3) Wawrinka (Switzerland)
4) Del Potro (Argentina)
5) Ferrer (Spain)
6) Murray (Scotland)
7) Tomas Berdych (Czech Republic)
8) Roger Federer (Switzerland)
9) Richard Gasquet (France)
10) Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (France).
