The Government officially launches the new basket with prices frozen
The Government officially launched the pricing agreement with the major supermarket chains and food industry companies, to counter inflation.
The Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich stressed that the objective of the agreement is “to protect the citizens econmy.”
“That is the goal that the President (Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner) asked us,” said the chief minister.
The agreement reached 194 products and Capitanich said they will be “perfectly available on the shelves” of supermarkets.
“194 prices were agreed, with 65 integrated suppliers. Agreement contemplated that these products must be fully available on the shelves at the agreed price” Capitanich said at a press conference.
He added that “on average, the agreement involved a 7 percent reduction in the price of the basket.”
