Pope Francisco gave the first mass of the 2014
Italy, January 1, 2014
In the first massa of 2014, held in the Basilica of St. Peter, the Pope said “is significant to hear words of strength, courage and hope.”
During his homily before thousands of believers who crammed the basilica, the Pope warned that “the current crisis, which has serious consequences for the lives of people, can be, however, a favorable opportunity to recover the virtues of prudence, temperance, justice and fortitude.”
“The fact that economic crisis are happening one after another should lead to the desired revision of the models of economic development and a change in lifestyle” he said in his speech, in which he praised fraternity as the path to peace, where he called on heads of state, especially the rich and privileged countries to help the less developed countries.
