Daniel Scioli, governor of Buenos Aires, said that it must be done “a thorough evaluation” to “readjust” the electronic system after power outages that affected much of the city of Buenos Aires and the province in December.

Asked about the possibility of nationalizing the energy distribution companies, Scioli said that “the immediate priority was to restore the service” so stressed that “we have worked hard with the companies that are responsible for managing electricity” in order to “normalize the situation.”

And he added “then we will make a thorough assessment of the future with regard to readjust the electrical system to a country with growing industries, commercial consumption and domestic consumption.”

“People want to have the essential services that the State must provide directly or in this case through the companies that must take social responsibility,” he said.
