The Government further extended the return of 5 percent of the value added tax for purchases with debit card

Through resolution 38 published today in the Official Gazette and signed by Economy Minister Axel Kicillof, the Government extends for one year, from January 1st, the force of the return of 5% VAT to the debit card purchases, according the decrees 1402 and 1548 issued in 2001.

According to Article 2 of the law, purchases of liquid fuels and liquefied gas are exempted from part-refund of Value Added Tax (VAT).

The resolution also states that “there are still valid reasons that led to the timely implementation of the compensation mechanism for the buying of movable or contracting services to final consumers paid by debit card, so it is advisable to extend in effect since January 1, 2014 until December 31, 2014, inclusive.”
