Argentina: Electricty demand reached a new record
Argentina, December 17, 2013
This afternoon, electricity demand reached a new high due to the heat wave affecting half the country. The consumption reached 23,433 megavaltios, after the cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich recognized that there will be shortages when the thermometer climbs above 32°.
Note that the maximum peak power was recorded at 2.20 pm by the Administration Company of the Wholesale Electricity Market (CAMMESA).
Thus, today’s maximum exceed yesterday’s energy peak, both in the category power and energy of Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) for a working day, of 23,334 megawatts at 3 pm.
“This summer will be 1,500 megawatts above the previous summer and the possibility of shortages will increase” acknowledged, meanwhile, the Federal Planning Minister Julio de Vido.
Indeed, in recent days there were hundreds of reports by service disruption in cities across the country. At least 16 neighborhoods of the city reported shortages.
