Michelle Bachelet became the new president of Chile

With over 60% of the polls counted, the candidate of the center-left won Chilean elections won with 62% of the votes. For its part, the ruling Evelyn Matthei achieved less than 37% and admitted the defeat in her bunker.

“It is already clear, she won and I congratulate her” Matthei said at the door of her house before going to her bunker. Bachelet will rule Chile until 2019.

“This is an important day, and I hope that people can attend and participate by voting to give a clear expression of the Chile we want to live in” the new president said, adding: “from skepticism changes do not happen”.
