The Supreme Court vote in favor of the Media Law
The Supreme Court judges Ricardo Lorenzetti, Eugenio Zaffaroni, Enrique Petracchi, Carlos Maqueda, Carmen Argibay and Elena Highton de Nolasco celebrates the first agreement after the legislative elections voting for the constitutionality of the Media Law.
In recent months, the reason for the implementation of the Media Law attracted the attention of the national government and business groups, which in turn led to the calling of a public hearing by the Court last August.
Finally, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the four articles of the Law on Audiovisual Communication Services that had been the target of a court filing by Grupo Clarin. The key points werw articles 45 and 48, associated with the licenses, and 41 and 161 on the time of disinvestment.
This ruling coincided with the judgment of judge Horacio Alfonso, who had spoken in favor of the validity. The Supreme Court revised the judgment of the Appeal Court that had been issued against the constitutionality of mentioned articles.
According to sources of the high court, “The details of the judgment will be announced this afternoon.”
