The Senate approves 2014 budget with opposition criticism
The Senate led by Senator Beatriz Rojkés de Alperovich approved 2014 budget, with 40 votes for and 27 against.
The law covers the basic guidelines on income, expenditure and macroeconomic assumptions for the operation of the national public administration in 2014.
The ruling bloc got the two-year extensions of the economic emergency and taxes on bank transactions (checks) and cigarettes.
The initiatives were approved with the backing of the ruling party and its allies, while the opposition is delivered by the rejection of the official proposals, as part of a special session that lasted for about 11 hours.
