Hard responses from Mujica and his wife to Argentine criticism
Uruguayan President Jose Mujica pastera authorized UMP Company, fromer Botnia to increase production by 100,000 tons and the Argentine authorities responded with a threat of recourse to the Court of the Hague if this happens, as it will contaminate the coast of Entre Rios.
Mujica criticized Foreign Minister Timerman, “They say a lot of data taking advantage of people have no idea.” “He spoke of endusolfán, a drug that is used to all this kind of stuff, mainly for soybeans.”
“What Chancellor did not said is that from Gualeguaychú side experts found endusulfán in the water ten times more than on this side.” “We need to better inform people so they have an idea.”
His wife, Lucia Topolansky, the Frente Amplio Senator, was tougher, and said that “the Argentine government made cheater environmental management”.
“We will answer giving the same data but the truth. How many discharges are thrown in Argentina without control? Or we control everything and talk about ecology and environmental care or do not put anything”.
