The priest Brochero is Blessed
The priest José Gabriel Brochero born in Cordoba (1840-1914) was beatified this morning when his image was shown as Blessed, in the province of Cordoba that bears his name, and while the decision to accept a miracle through his intercession was taken by Benedict XVI, will be the first beatification of an Argentine in the reign of Francis.
Brochero is already blessed and his party will be on March 16.
A crowd estimated at 200,000 pilgrims, and about 1200 priests, attended the beatification ceremony in property located in the Cerro de la Cruz.
The celebration was presided by the prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Angelo Amato, sent by the Pope Francis, who wrote a letter and it was read by Amato officially being declared ‘Blessed Brochero’.
The Argentina has only one saint, Hector Valdivielso Saez, and with Brochero there are six blessed: Laura Vicuña, Maria del Transito Cabanillas, Artímides Zatti, Namuncurá Ceferino Perez and Maria Crescentia.
