Argentina, August 31, 2013
Today, Daniel Scioli, weeks after the elections, led a ceremony held by the Security Minister Arturo Puricelli, where he and Sergio Berni announced the sending of more than 4,000 gendarmes to strengthen security in suburban Buenos Aires.
The move comes as a response to one of the main demands expressed by the electorate during the campaign. The ceremony was also attended by the first candidate for national deputy for the FPV in the district, Martin Insaurralde.
Meanwhile, Ricardo Casal, head of the Federal Police, thanked the President for “the logistical effort and human resources” to dispose of the troops on the GBA.
The announcement represents a reinforcement of the so-called “Operation Sentinel” with an effective expansion of Gendarmerie to work with the Buenos Aires police. The decision is part of the Federal Security Program announced by the national government on Friday of last week.
Among other things, mobile announced the delivery of technological patrol police and the Ministry of Security brings to the Buenos Aires police to fight crime in different areas of Greater Buenos Aires.
