Cristina: “More than recalcitrant debtor, the country is a serial payer”
Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner referred to the judgment of New York Court of Appeals in favor of vulture funds and said that “more than recalcitrant debtor, the country is a serial payer”.
The statements were made in the context of the advert on sending to Congress a bill to reopen the debt swap for 7% of holders of Argentine bonds in default that chose not to participate in the editions of 2005 and 2010
“We have done this with genuine resources from better management of the resources of the state without access to capital markets,” said the President in a message provided by national chain which informs the next steps in the country under the recent ruling in New York on vulture funds litigation.
The President said that the decision of the New York Court of Appeals on vulture funds “ignores the agreement with 93% of the bondholders and sovereign immunity the Argentina debt has”.
