Argentina, August 17, 2013
Carlos Garcia, the gas worker that was arrested for the explosion of the building in Rosario, which left a toll of 21 dead and over 60 injured, was released from prison.
Today, the judge Javier Beltramone granted the request done by the defense and ordered the release of Garcia. The gas worker is blamed on negligent cause havoc.
Garcia gave today statement before the court, about the day of the tragedy. While acknowledging that he had been working in the building that collapsed, he blamed the company Litoral Gas by the poor condition of the facilities.
He said he was “desperate” to seek help when gas started leaking and he suffered a nervous breakdown. He also commented that he tried to “ask for help to Litoral Gas” but said they never replied and that “he had to ask for help” so he grabbed the truck and drove “the most a hurry to the headquarters of Litoral Gas”.
However, he refused to answer questions that did not come from his defense lawyers.
