Undersecretary of Consumer Advocate Maria Colombo said in statements to Radio del Plata that “credit card that will launch the Government for purchases at supermarkets will ‘sole and exclusive’ and price agreements are being met.”
She said that “the plastic will have to be ‘exclusive’ because supermarkets are not going to put the prices differ according to the customers’ credit card.”
“The reason we have to be unique is because supermarkets could not set prices if they have different financial costs.”
“Banks charge to supermarkets between 3 and 4.5 percentage points to finance sales commission and the card of the Banco Nacion recorded a commission of only one point.”
“The equation is perfect as it can be financed only with a card that pays a percentage point commission for purchases”.
“Another goal is that banks lower their commissions to 0.75 points in traditional plastics”.
