For the first time, the world is celebrating today, Wednesday March 20, the ‘International Day of Happiness’.
The date was adopted by the UN General Assembly in June 2012, after the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Jigme Thinley, requested its conclusion: “the pursuit of happiness as a fundamental human goal”.
So he urged UN member states to promote ‘public policies that include the importance of happiness and well-being in its commitment to development’, while requesting that celebrate this day ‘appropriately, including education activities and public awareness’.
The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Jigme Thinley said during his participation in the First Congress of Happiness Institute organized by Coca-Cola in Spain in 2011, that “no one can be truly happy unless the people around you are happy.”
