Former Vice President Julio Cobos, said today that Argentina needs a “roundtable” between the government and opposition to “solve the problems of the country’s political agenda.”

He noted that the election of Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio as the new Pope can “influence the national policy that at least from the government try to listen and give answers.”

“Argentina needs to sit at a negotiating table, resolve the political agenda and think in long term,” said Cobos this morning.

“Now, it seems that the election of Francisco has had influence in them because they are trying once and for all to listen and give answers,” he concluded.
