The European Commission (EC) today issued an unusual report that attacks Argentina because, it says, ‘its policy of re-industrialization is affecting the country’s imports.’

The text mentions the obligation of Argentine companies to ask the government permission to import products: “The policy of re-industrialization and import substitution applied by Argentina continues and hurts imports.”

Moreover, the Commission found a lack of progress on a number of obstacles identified since 2011, in a report to the European Council, the forum of heads of state and government of the 27 block, which meets Thursday in Brussels to discuss how to promote growth and employment.
