The Chilean Socialist Party President Osvaldo Andrade, confirmed that the former president Michelle Bachelet will be the candidate of the center-left forces for the upcoming November election.

The officially launching of Bachelet’s campaign has not been done yet but it was almost confirmed as the pre electoral climate tightened to the point that Sebastián Piñera, Chile’s current president, said in a statement to the media that “She’ll find a better Chile than the one she left.”

Andrade said that the former president is “the hope of many people in this country” and that “she’ll face all necessary debates”. He also assured that the right ruling “is scared” because of the popular support that she has.

“They’re scared, the right party is terrified for the return of Bachelet because they understand, know and note as does the rest of the people in this country, she has a reputation, a citizen adhesion and connotations in society that is immense” he told media statements.

“Bachelet has become a world figure and that make the Chileans proud,” he added.

Meanwhile, the current president Sebastián Piñera said that during his government “has improved economic growth, entrepreneurship and unemployment has fallen,” adding that the coalition supporting Bachelet “gathers only for their ambition for power”.
