Nicolas Maduro announced that: ‘Chavez could not be embalmed’
Venezuela’s acting president Nicolas Maduro said Wednesday, “The late president Hugo Chavez may not be embalmed finally, since the procedure for doing so should have started earlier.”
Maduro said during the opening of the Book Fair of Venezuela in Caracas that “Russian and German scientists came to embalm Chavez and tell us it’s very difficult because it should have started earlier (…) suddenly no longer can.”
“We are in the process, the process is complicated, and it is my duty to warn”.
Maduro had announced before, “Chavez’s body would be embalmed in order to expose it forever.”
He explained that at first the remains will be taken to the headquarters of the Mountain (Military History Museum) and then could be transferred to the National Pantheon, with the remains of Simon Bolivar.
