Argentina, March 11, 2013
After receiving the offer of the Provincial Government, the workers’ front led by Roberto Baradel again decided to take a measure of force that affect the school year by 48 hours. “The answer we got did not solve the crisis,” he said.
Buenos Aires teachers announced a 48-hour strike which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, after another failure of the joint negotiations.
On Wednesday, teachers will walk from Avellaneda to the city of La Plata, where on Thursday there will be a ceremony attended by teachers from across the province of Buenos Aires.
“We have to explain to the community that this is because the government’s proposal did not reach a 22%, but was 18.6%,” said Baradel, Suteba union representative.
“We will remain strong until we can reach a solution to the crisis,” he concluded.
