Nicolas Maduro will assume today the interim presidency of Venezuela

Diosdado Cabello, president of the National Assembly (AN) of Venezuela, announced that, “the vice president so far, Nicolás Maduro, will assume the interim presidency this Friday in the Caribbean country by order that President Hugo Chavez left before dying’.

Maduro said in an interview with Telesur, that “will take office at a special meeting to be held in the Hall of Honor of the Military Academy at 7:00 pm on Friday.”

Cabello said that “the appointment of interim President Maduro as is provided for in Article 233, under which will be the ‘number two’ who takes office as the head of state dies.”
