Daniel Scioli: “We need to discourage the use of all weapons”

Argentina, March 8, 2013

Governor of Buenos Aires Daniel Scioli emphasized that, “We need to discourage the use of all weapons.” “My conviction and political decision suggests that anyone who commits a crime with a gun and has a history should not be released.”

Scioli pronounced that way, leading the activity held to seize thousands of weapons through police operations or voluntarily surrendered under the disarmament program.

He also said that “since 2007, among voluntary surrender procedures and seized weapons we collected 45,000 guns” and called to “work with the Legislature to immediately put into effect the Law”

The governor, along with the Minister of Justice and Security, Ricardo Casal, dealt with Yanela’s case, the girl recently killed in Berazategui, and complained that “the detainee was released, as were also released 85 of the 94 arrested with weapons in the last hours.”
