AFIP head Ricardo Echegaray predicted that “next year will be effective information exchange agreement between Argentina and China Customs”, although he admitted that “building a transparent trade between the two countries is difficult.”

“Last January we closed the negotiations with the Chinese authorities and at some point, to be defined at the political level, a formal agreement will be signed, that takes effect next year.”

He put it this way in a breakfast meeting organized by the Argentina Chamber of Commerce-China, headed by businessman Carlos Spadone.

Echegaray said that “the business relationship between the two nations is widely deficit for Argentina: only in the first two months of 2013, the Red reached 1,550 million dollars.”

“2007 was the last year we achieved a surplus in the trade balance: was 236 million dollars. From there, every year there was deficit.”
