Nigel Haywood: “Argentine’s Government lies”

Nigel Haywood, Governor of the Falkland Islands, accused Argentina of “lying and inventing” referring to the complaint made by Héctor Timerman on British nuclear submarines heading to the South Atlantic.

Haywood gave an interview to the British newspaper “The Sun” just a week before the referendum on the islands. In his media statement he said that the UK supports them if they want to remain under British sovereignty.

From his home in Port Stanley (Puerto Argentino), Haywood said the government of Cristina Kirchner “makes things up”.

“Argentina said that the UN has said that the islanders have no right to decide. They had never said that” he added.

And he concluded “the UK’s nuclear submarines in the South Atlantic story is a lie.”
