Gas tanks of a balloon exploded at an altitude of about 300 meters. The Egyptian press reported that: “the globe, with 20 tourists on board, fell in Luxor, a cane in the west of the city.”
According to authorities, “the tourists aboard the balloon came from Hong Kong, Japan, Belgium, UK and France.”
Luxor is one of the main tourist attractions of the country.
The hot air balloon trips in the region are in high demand, but in recent years there have been several serious accidents.
Sixteen tourists were injured when hurrying to land a balloon in 2009 and seven passengers were injured in February 2008 when three balloons collided in midair.
