Buenos Aires Education Minister Esteban Bullrich announced Friday that he offered a 26 percent increase to teachers unions and, thus, would be “secured” the beginning of the school year in capital city on Wednesday.

The 17 unions that participated in the meeting discussed next Tuesday in plenary wage offer, but there is optimism among the leaders to sign the agreement.

Bullrich said the increase is 14 percent in March and 12 percent in July, adding that “it took a while, we would have liked more time to end, but I think we came to an understanding.”

He said that basic weights will rise to 4120, which means an increase of about 1,000 pesos relative to 2012.
