A year after the Tragedy of Once

Argentina, February 22, 2013

Family members and survivors of the tragedy of Once gathered at the station, on the platform 2. At 8:30 am, they began to demand justice and 8:32, time at which the accident occurred, the sirens sounded to the cries and anguish of those present, and then they did a minute of silence ending with a general applause. Also, they read a poem remembering the 51 victims.

The family placed a candle for each victim in the platform’s edge and threw red roses onto the tracks.

The actor Manuel Callau gave an overview of the event that ocurred last year and appointed officials such as the Justice Minister Garre.

The actor Rubén Stella read a request of Sarmiento Railway workers demanding for justice. The ceremony was closed by Lucas Menghini’s father, thanking everyone and especially to the first person that came after a year, Mrs. Nora Cortinas, a member of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, ‘Line founder’, who said she also feels a victim of the tragedy and that does not agree with the words of the President. She spoke on behalf of the solidarity of the whole group.

“We call on all citizens without political or union flags, only under the banner of justice” was the slogan of Paolo Menghini Rey, father of Lucas.
