South African police found a cricket bat with blood in the house of the Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius, accused of killing his girlfriend last Thursday.
Police sources close to the investigation said, “the skull of Pistorius’s girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, 29, was devastated.”
“There was blood on the bat, the scientific police determined what blood is,” sources added.
The researchers established three scenarios, as City Press, “Pistorius had assaulted his girlfriend with the bat, his girlfriend would have used to defend herself, or the athlete would have used to break down the door of the bathroom where the woman had taken refuge”.
On Thursday, the police dismissed the theory that Pistorius, 26, had mistaken his girlfriend for a thief. According to police, the model received four shots of 9 mm, two of them in the head.
A cartridge was found in the bedroom of Pistorius house, and police believe that he may have made the first shot there, forcing his girlfriend to hide in the bathroom.
“It is suspected that the first shot was in the bedroom and it hit her in the hip. She ran and hid in the bathroom (…) And she had three more shots,” police source said.
According to neighbors, the couple had argued from the start of Wednesday night. Guards of the condo where Pistorius lived had even to intervene.
Pistorius called his father at 3:20 on the morning of Thursday, asking him to come as quickly as possible. But neither called the police nor an ambulance. The father of a friend, whom Pistorius also asked to come to his house, was also in the place, and he called emergency.
When this friend and his father arrived at the home of the athlete, he descended the stairs, trembling, and carrying in his arms the body of his girlfriend. Reeva Steenkamp was still breathing and tried to revive her.
The woman was wearing a nightgown and inspectors found her purse and iPad on the floor in the room of Oscar. The bed sheets were riots. Pistorius said to his sister Aimée that something terrible had happened as he had mistaken Reeva for a thief.
