The government closed Friday unilaterally an increase in teacher salaries of 22 percent over the base, but staggered into three sections, the first 16% from March to August.

This was confirmed by SADOP union general secretary Mario Almirón, who lamented that the government has taken this decision, which he described as a “gesture of insensitivity to workers earning 2,800 pesos each.”

The unions signed disagree and teachers convened a meeting for this week.

The national administration closed for second consecutive year the teachers wage increase unilaterally, after giving a staged increase in three tranches, the first of 16% through August, the second until November of 19% cumulative, and the third between December and March 2014, to round a 22 percent salary increase.
