Venezuela released new photos of the president Hugo Chavez

Venezuela, February 15, 2013

Ernesto Villegas, Venezuela’s Minister of Communication, showed today through a press conference photos of President Hugo Chavez, who remains in Cuba recovering from the surgery he underwent about a month ago.

The last official photo of the president had been launched on 11 December. According to the Minister of Communication “photos were transported from Havana by the Minister of Science and Technology, Jorge Arreaza”.

In the photos can be seen a smiling Chavez along with his daughters. The photo would have been taken yesterday during the family celebration for Valentine’s Day.

He also released a medical report. It indicates that the Bolivarian president is with speech difficulties as a result of the treatment to which he was subjected to and also due to an infection he contracted after the surgery.

“Respiratory infections arising in the postoperative course are controlled, but there is still a certain degree of failure. Given this circumstance, he’s being treated, despite currently the commander is breathing through a tracheal cannula” concluded the minister.
