There are 660 people stranded on the way to Chile by avalanches

As many as 660 people, circulating in trucks and cars remained stranded in the high mountain area, the road linking the province of Mendoza to Chile through the Cristo Redentor by a score of rock and mudslides in recent days, the result of heavy rains that affected the Andes.
National Highways and other agencies began work to fix the problem, while from the provincial authorities estimated that rehabilitating the passage require at least ten working days.
It is estimated in the high mountain area remained stranded 65 cars, two vans, two buses and 180 trucks.
Officials said: “after avalanches registered between Thursday and Friday last were stranded in Puente del Inca 400 people, 80 and Penitentes in Punta de Vacas 180″.
