Tragic accident in Chile: A bus with supporters of O’Higgins crashes in Tome

In the early hours of Saturday, a bus melted down with O’Higgins football club fans on the slope Caracol, near Tome, leaving so far 16 people dead and 21 injured, six of them seriously.
The commander of the Eighth Fire Company Tomé, Roberto Araya, said: “All bodies trapped between the iron bars of the machine were freed.”
“The bus was carrying 33 to 35 people and, given the severity of the injuries, the death toll may increase. The emergency work is focused in the early hours to rescue the wounded and two bodies trapped under the iron of the vehicle. “
“Many of the victims would be between 14 and 18 years old. It also confirmed the death of an infant of six months.”
Araya explained that: “The accident occurred on the slope Caracol, reaching the Bellavista hill, on the road linking the town of Concepcion with Tomé.”
