A mobile phone application developed in Japan can “translate” the newspaper articles to the language of children.
The Tokyo Shimbun newspaper, one of the leading publications of the country, worked with advertising company Dentsu to create the program AR News.
This “app” allows children to read the newspaper through a smartphone, where they can see a text versio. Dentsu said the system “could give future to old newspapers.” “Newspapers are not made for children”.
Complex articles of social, economic and political issues become interesting for children.
The demo video shows a father putting a newspaper on the table as a child holds his smartphone and places it on the page.
Suddenly character animations occur on-screen, telling stories and highlighting the most important words.
