A 22-year-old accused of doing witchcraft was burned alive in Papua New Guinea.

On Wednesday, she was tortured with an iron element, tied up, doused with gasoline and then set fire to a pile of garbage in Mount Hagen; the crowd expelled the police that tried to stop the killing.

According to local media: “A family whose son died in hospital earlier this week accused the woman of using black magic to kill him.”

In Oceania there is widespread belief in witchcraft.
