Peruvian Defense Minister condemned the sayings of Chilean soldiers

Defense Minister of Peru, Pedro Cateriano, considered that the xenophobic phrases expressed by a group of Chilean sailors during training in the city of Viña del Mar must be condemned.

“It is an outburst. Expressions are condemnable, but happily the Chilean authorities have reacted quickly and, in that sense, we hope that they will clarify this point, “he said after learning of the video in Pucallpa.

However, he stressed that, regardless of such incidents, the bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to strengthen and work to solve problems in education, health and poverty.

Meanwhile, Argentine Defense Minister Arturo Puricelli, today described them as “unacceptable” and “unjustifiable”.

A video was posted on the Internet and social networks that shows a group of soldiers of the Chilean Navy singing against the Peruvians, Bolivians and Argentines.

Sebastian Pinera’s government ordered a preliminary investigation to identify those responsible and punish them according to institutional standards.
