Congressman salaries were increased

Congressman anticipated wage increases before rises that are expected this year.

Lawmakers charge their salaries with an increase of 21.8% since January; they are currently receiving 36,382 pesos a month, plus 10,000 pesos per month for expenses.

This rise controversy exceeds by almost two percentage points by which the government aims to close this year the joint and by almost 5 points higher than the 17% that the government offered the national teachers.

The authorities explained to the media, “the increase reflects the joint agreement was reached in March last year with legislative guilds. The increase is automatically applied to employees, but was postponed for deputies and senators until January 1st this year.”
