The Federal Court of Buenos Aires rejected a request to block Cuevana

Argentina, February 6, 2013

Today, the Federal Court of the City of Buenos Aires rejected a request made by the pay movie channel HBO to block the website Cuevana.

The site offers movies in good quality and with subtitles, something that previously could only be found going to the movies, renting in a video store or paying extra TV channels like HBO, Moviecity, among others.

Despite the site is under investigation for alleged violation of intellectual property rights, the currently will remain open after the court rejected the request done by HBO.

Judicial sources confirmed that Martin Irurzun, Horacio Cattani and Eduardo Farah said that “It has not been determined yet if Cuevana is a site of links or content uploaded by users or if indeed there are certain people who control it “.

“For the time is unknown who are the users that manage the site and where is located the server from which to download the movies” argues the ruling.

“It seems too broad and disproportionate (the request) if we consider that even the Justice did not identify any commission of a crime” concluded the maids.
