Maradona denies accusations of the Italian State

Argentina, February 5, 2013

Diego Maradona, defended himself against accusations of the Italian state for tax evasion and threw the responsibility to his former advisers.

The former Argentine star Diego Armando Maradona defended himself against accusations of the Italian tax authorities in a video recorded at his home in Dubai and made public on Tuesday by the Italian lawyer Angelo Pisani.

“I am not a fraudster. I played football and people signed for me, “said Maradona.

“I have no fear of returning to Italy and the IRS should collect evidence of these allegations. I had never signed anything and the real culprits are free, “added the former football player, who is being accused of having about 40 million euros in unpaid taxes for his advertising contracts.

The short video was released by the attorney Angelo Pisani, who last February 1 erroneously announced that the Treasury abandoned the case against the player.
