Cantero, President of Independiente, explained the reasons why the chief of Security resigned

Argentina, February 5, 2013

Javier Cantero, president of Independiente, spoke today with the press about the reason why the now former security chief withdrew from office. “She wanted to go for more,” he said while he expressed being happy with what the club achieved so far in the struggle against the hooligans.

The Security Chief Florencia Arietto, who assumed in September, was a mainstay in the fight against the hooligans of the club. According to the president of Independiente, Arietto wanted to move forward in the fight against violence but the club remains happy with what has been achieved so far.

“Florencia is a friend of mine; I have much affection to her. We had shared difficult times for the club and she was very important in that moment. During this year, we put together a strategy and she was able to carry it on. We advanced a lot in a year and we are happy with what we have achieved. She did not agree, she thought we had to go further” he argued through radio statements.

And he added, “For me it’s okay to avoid violence, but I don’t want to play in a church. We should not prohibit the curtain because they say that beneath it hooligans sell drugs, but we must grab those who sell them”.
