Carnival celebrations with roadblocks by the Corsicans

February 3, 2013

The Carnival celebrations began Saturday in several neighborhoods of the city with 34 parades in which 118 “murgas” will preform during weekends and holidays of February 11 to 12.

In that sense, it is estimated that some 15,000 artists dance and sing as representatives of their respective “murgas” through the City.

Carnival holidays returned by a decree of President Cristina Kirchner in 2010, which allowed each “murga” to celebrate the day with the deployment of the livery and the history of their neighborhoods.

For the celebration of Carnival many streets in the city are cut to transit from this Saturday between 17:00 and 3:00 am and Sunday from 17:00 to 1:00 am.
