Rosario mayor Monica Fein acknowledged that the city has “few police officers” to fight against assaults and violent episodes that occurred in recent times, and remarked that, often, their troops, “are not the rise to the occasion.”

Fein, who resumed work after vacation, stressed that neighbours of Rosario made the same diagnosis of security forces.

“We believe that police reform will give us the ability to have our own police force, which interests us,” added the socialist community leader, referring to the government’s idea of creating a metropolitan police in the cities of Rosario and Santa Fe.

Speaking to a local radio station, the mayor said, “There is a deficit that the city can not cover alone, but we are working hard on the issue of social inequality.”
