Moon will hide Jupiter tonight, an event that will only will be visible from South America.

According to NASA, “the west coast of South America will see the start of the event, while in the west it will be more complete and more favorable, because Jupiter will be at higher altitudes. In the rest of the world, observers will have to settle for a combination between the two.”

“Thus, anyone who looks at the sky Monday night, whenever the weather permits, you can see the moon and Jupiter, heading west through the night sky for the same reason that the Sun moves westward during the day because the Earth rotates from the east on its axis.”

“The moon lies just over a second of light from Earth, while Jupiter is 37 light minutes. This has already happened on December 25.”
