Deliberative Council suspended Bariloche Mayor Omar Goye because they believe he is responsible for the looting that shake the Patagonian city.
The vote was 10 in favor with the suspension and only one against. Goye is thus removed from office until impeachment proceedings expire.
Council Speaker Maria Eugenia Martini, the Front for Victory party, will serve temporarily in office.
Goye challenged legislators and said that this war is just beginning, while he complained about alleged irregularities in the process.
According to the Charter, the recall process should include a referendum.
It requires the signatures of at least three per cent of voters (2,389 of a total of 79,653, according to the last election, 2011) and that will determine whether or not Goye still in office.
