Former President Carlos Menem was honored in his province by Governor Luis Beder Herrera, who uncovered a bust in his honor.

“I do not know if I deserve this sculpture, but I will do the impossible to justify it,” said the former president, who in recent years has been removed from the public sphere because of his deteriorating health.

The bust was placed in a walk from the village of Sanagasta, 30 kilometers from the provincial capital, where some works were inaugurated.

Beder Herrera noted that “at the time Menem placed Argentina on the place and role in international trade.”

“We may agree or disagree, because we are free, but he was our president is a man who deserves the homage we are doing. I am happy to recognize his figure, because in addition we also support his candidacy for senator,” said the governor.
