The tourist image of Peru increases with Dakar Rally 2013

Peru’s participation in the Dakar Rally 2013 generated a positive economic impact on the country, both in image advertising and tourism promotion as direct benefit in economic activity.
Also it allowed significantly strengthen activities related to tourism (hotels, restaurants and various services), enabling small and medium enterprises in southern Peru exhibit and sell their original products.
According to local media reports: “Peru is home from the test Saturday hardest stage of the world, the Dakar Rally, which will bring more than 300 million dollars (234.3 million euros) and will attract interest from more than 300 million people in 190 countries.”
Director of Tourism Promotion Promperú, María del Carmen Reparaz, said: “More than 300 million people in 190 countries will watch the rally held this year in Peru.”
