This Friday, Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela’s vice president, said, “Hugo Chávez’s inauguration, scheduled for January 10 may be delayed, under poor health in by respiratory complications.”
According to Maduro: “The presence of Venezuelan President January 10 is a mere formality and will formalize taking office before the Venezuelan Supreme Court later, and not necessarily to the National Assembly.”
In the interview conducted by the Minister of Communication and Information of Venezuela, Ernesto Villegas, and broadcast by the state-owned Venezolana de Television, Maduro said: “Chávez continues in office”.
The Constitution provides that in any case, as formalism, must file their oath before the National Assembly on January 10, but on January 10 begins the new constitutional term. He continues to hold office and establish (…) when you can take an oath before the Supreme Court. “
